On Sept. 9, 2000 Willie was a background vocalist at the 25th New York Salsa Festival performing among the best in the world such as Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Oscar D León, Son by 4, Michael Stuart, Tony Vega, Tito Nieves, Herman Olivera, Tito Puente jr, Domingo Quinones, Frankie Morales, Jerry Medina, Pete el Conde Rodriguez, Marc Quinones and The Tito Puente Orquesta. Willie’s ambition in the realm of show business will not be denied. He has assembled a host of show business credits through the years; namely his performance as a bodyguard for the Academy Award winner Denzel Washington in the film “Malcolm X” directed by the legendary Spike Lee, The film “Any Given Sunday” Directed by the celebrated Oliver Stone as a standing extra for the Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, and the film“Chat” directed by Robert Seone. This singer, songwriter, musician and actor started his solo career in 2003. Performing for the first time in Europe for the Celebration of the Centennial of Panamá, Willie took the stage next to Camilo Azuquita. Willie Panamá has been performing in Concerts and Festivals along with great artist like Sergio George, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Don Omar, The Orquesta de La Luz, The Puerto Rican Power, Tito Nieves, Azucar Negra, Luís Perico Ortiz, La Sonora Ponceña, The Tommy Olivencia Orquesta, The Orquesta La Sonora Carruseles of Colombia, Tony Vega, The Orquesta Fruta Nueva. Willie Panamá continues to perform throughout Europe in countries like Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France. Willie Panama’ is a recording invited artist to such producers like Alberto Barros that produced hits such as Valio La Pena for Marc Anthony, Dante Vargas producer and director of The Orquesta La Sonora Carruseles of Colombia and also for The Cat Band. Willie Panamá is part of The Tributo a la salsa Colombiana performing the Rap in Spanish and Jamaican for the hit song “La Palomita“ which has been receiving an overwhelming amount of attention as a crossover song. As part of the Tributo a la Salsa Colombiana Willie has shared the stage with Alberto Barros, Diego Galé, Joe Arroyo, Wilson Saoko, Gabino Pampini, Alberto Flores, Tommy Ruíz, Saulo Sánchez, Charlie Cardona,Cali Alemán, Willy Garcia, Javier Vasquez, Aylen Rodriguez, Moncho Santana, Andy Caicedo, Daniel Silva and Diego Moran. Willie Panama’ was awarded by the Facundo Rivero Perfoming Arts in Miami The Star Award 2007.“ Willie Panama' performed at The Festival House for The Cannes Film Festival 2008 in France. Willie Panamá received a recognition from The Ambassador of Panama' in France and The Consul of Panama' in Napoli, Italy for his participation at The Cannes Film Festival 2008. Willie Panamá (born William L. Duguid) is a Panamanian musical artist. A star that seems to have it all: appearance, personality, poise, confidence and stage presence. To watch him live as he improvises and spontaneously spark the ambience, will turn any viewer into a participant. Willie was born in the barrio of Calidonia and takes a lot of pride in his Spanish West Indian Cultural Heritage calling himself the original Ragamofin de la Salsa.
